The concept of the Talented Tenth Gala is inspired by Dr. W.E.B DuBois, noted scholar and one of Fisk’s most well-known alumni. This principle recognizes the importance of educating exceptional men and women in order to uplift the African American culture and community. This tenet is at the core of Fisk University's mission.

The 2nd Talented Tenth Gala & Awards Ceremony aspires to highlight the work and achievement of alumni, friends and supporters of Fisk University in four categories.
